a city to be proud of, and the capital of Wales, has sadly deteriorated.

Although Cardiff City Council, even a member of our government, have been alerted to the issues of rubbish and litter that has blotted the landscape and social wellness, regrettably the situation still fails to see recovery.

As the NATO summit draws closer, we should invite the guests and hosts to take a walk along our thoroughfares - not those on the official route and not those off the beaten track - but main areas such as City Road / Albany Road and the side street to which these photos refer as recently as 24th August 2014.

True, they can and do blame the folks that dump the rubbish but, perhaps, this snapshot will encourage someone to champion the issue and re-introduce the enforcement that the transient nature of temporary dwellings invokes; that the build-up due to extended rubbish collection times enhances and the lack of response and focus that is leading to the rapid socialisation of mice and rat infestations and the increasingly mysterious disappearance of the local pets.

Of course, there are many more satisfying attractions and sites throughout Cardiff and Wales - which should also represent the ambiance of those partly forgotten terraces and streets that most call home.

Mr President(s), if you have the opportunity to scan through some of these pages, WELCOME to CARDIFF - CAPITAL of WALES
